“Great things in business are never done by one person; they’re done by a team of people.” - Steve Jobs

As I reach my one-year milestone with LBMA, I’ve come to appreciate the unique nature of the precious metals industry. My first job in London (coming from South Africa) was in fact, working for a gold and silver antique dealer. I learned about assaying and testing back then, never knowing I would ever work with metal again.

Several career moves within corporate finance later, my current role as Chief of Staff and heading LBMA Events has been the most rewarding to date. The precious metals industry is like no other; I’ve found that everyone is so open to sharing and exchanging ideas.

Which is why the upcoming LBMA/LPPM Global Precious Metals Conference in Miami is such a highlight of the year. It’s not just about the formal sessions; it’s about coming together in a vibrant setting where ideas flow freely and meaningful connections are made. Miami, with its energetic atmosphere, sets the perfect stage for this.

The mix of attendees is second to none. From investors, miners, central bankers and refiners, to traders, jewellers, and logistics firms – all gather to collaborate. This spirit of collaboration is especially important to LBMA, as this year we are finalising our next three-year strategy (2025-2027), set to launch in January.

THE PRECIOUS METALS INDUSTRY IS LIKE NO OTHER; I’VE FOUND THAT EVERYONE IS SO OPEN TO SHARING AND EXCHANGING IDEAS.

We’re eager to understand your pressures and goals, and to understand if you think we are on the right path and ensure our plans meet your needs and expectations.

As project lead for our Gold Bar Integrity (GBI) initiative, I will be keen to discuss this key initiative at the GBI booth at Conference. This initiative, in collaboration with aXedras, aims to create a secure, digital database for both custodians and refiners to upload their data efficiently and securely. And I am eager to hear any feedback or answer any questions you may have. We are in the critical stages before launching and we welcome any insights that could help refine the database further.

We are also excited to hear from our Conference keynote speakers, Gideon Rose, Robert Armstrong, and Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles. Their world-class insights, along with that of many other esteemed speakers and panellists, are sure to spark discussions that drive our industry forward. You can find more about our keynote speakers on page 12 and 13 of this issue.

So, if you’ve not yet registered to join us, what are you waiting for? Don’t miss out on the enriching conversations, establishing new connections, and building on existing relationships. I look forward to seeing you there.
