The volume of ounces transferred in July slumped to 15.4 mn ounces, its lowest level since August 2005, 14.8% lower month on month (m/m) and 19.5% lower compared to the same period last year. The corresponding value was $27.9 bn, 16.1% lower m/m. There were 3,440 transfers in July, 27% lower m/m, with the clearers settling on average 4,489 ounces per transfer, 16.7% higher m/m.

The volume of ounces transferred in July fell by 14% m/m to 221.1 mn ounces, its lowest level since August 2019, with the corresponding value transferred falling by 17.8% to $5.69 bn. The number of transfers in July decreased by 21% to 1,538, with the clearers settling on average 143,810 ounces per transfer, 8.8% higher m/m.

The average gold / silver price ratio in July was 70.2 compared to its peak of 111.9 in April 2020.
