Phishing Caution: Fraudulent Entities Not Affiliated with LBMA

Fraudulent Email Claiming to Be from Ruth Crowell

LBMA has been made aware of Members receiving fraudulent emails from an address falsely claiming to belong to LBMA CEO Ruth Crowell.

The email in question promotes a foreign exchange service provider and requests information on how recipients handle their FX transactions. The fraudulent domain they come from is @lbmas.co.uk.

This email address and the contents of the email have no affiliation with LBMA. The fraudulent domain has been reported to its web hosting provider and the National Cyber Security Centre has been alerted.

Please take care when responding to LBMA emails and ensure they originate from the correct domain: @lbma.org.uk. Any emails from other addresses should be disregarded, sent to the National Cyber Security Centre, or can be forwarded to our Compliance team to deal with.

Please be aware that www.lbma.org.uk and https://portal.www.lbma.org.uk/ are the only websites affiliated with LBMA and any websites claiming to trade on behalf of LBMA or using our name to offer investment opportunities are fraudulent. The only permitted external use of the LBMA brand is by our Members and Good Delivery List (GDL) Refiners, who may use the appropriate Member or GDL logo and may refer to their status with LBMA in line with our brand guidelines.
