Introducing Our First Few Speakers and Presentations

Following a lengthy review process, we are pleased to announce the first few speakers and presentations for the Assaying & Refining Conference 2025, taking place from Sunday, 16 to Wednesday, 19 March at the Royal Garden Hotel London.

Amanda Hefer (Senior Manager - Technical Assurance, Rand Refinery Limited)

In her role, Amanda is responsible for the swift, precise and accurate sampling and analysis of low and high-grade deposits received, ensuring governance requirements and providing a technical advisory and assurance function towards all departments within the company. Amanda will be presenting on Ultrasound Testing on LGD Bars.

Nicolò Lo Presti (Deputy Head of Spectrometry Area, MKS PAMP)

Nicolò joined MKS PAMP in February 2023 as a chemist before assuming his current role, where he works with advanced analytical techniques, particularly in spectroscopic applications, and he is also LabWare LIMS Administrator with experience in managing laboratory information systems. Nicolò will be presenting on Precious Metals Distribution in Lead Buttons, an application study with SPARK optical emissions spectrometry.

Mike Hinds (Consultant, MHinds Analytical Consulting)

Before retiring in 2020 and setting up his own consulting company, Mike was employed as the Assay Chemist for 31 years at the Royal Canadian Mint, where his main functions involved developing and introducing new analytical methods, making and certifying precious metal reference materials, and advising on sampling and mass metrology. Mike will be presenting A Closer Look at Gold Bullion Fire Assay.
