The LBMA/LPPM Global Precious Metals Conference will run from Sunday, 13 to Tuesday, 15 October 2024, closing with a Conference Review session that will explore all the key takeaways for delegates.
Regular Conference contributors Suki Cooper (Executive Director, Precious Metals Research, Standard Chartered Bank) and James Steel (Chief Precious Metals Analyst, HSBC) return to lead discussions. Plus, we are very excited to announce that Chris Harris (Senior Trader, Global Head of Precious Metals, Concord Resources Limited) will join the panel, adding not only his valuable takeaways from the conference sessions but also sentiment from the sidelines.
Chris Harris
Chris is an industry expert with over 30 years of commodity trading experience. Prior to Concord, he worked as a diversified commodity portfolio manager at several prominent asset management firms including Moore Capital Management, Phibro / Astenbeck Capital Management, Ridgefield Capital Asset Management and Catequil Asset Management. He was also the Chief Investment Officer at TerraManta, a startup quantitative commodity business.
Chris began his career at Morgan Stanley & Co. in 1990 as an IT professional in the International Equity Division in Tokyo. He moved to a trading position in the precious metals group in 1992, where he became the Head Silver Trader before moving on to the role of Head Gold Spot and Forward Trader.

Suki Cooper
Suki is Standard Chartered Bank’s Precious Metals Analyst, covering the markets for gold, silver, platinum, palladium and other platinum group metals, along with the key producing countries and consuming sectors. She has worked with all manner of institutions from corporates and refiners to physical traders and central banks, and many more, providing analysis and the outlook for the precious metals sector.
Previously, Suki was a Chartered Accountant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the Head of Metals Research at Barclays. She is currently the Chair of LBMA's Public Affairs Committee.
James Steel
James Steel is HSBC’s Chief Precious Metals Analyst, his primary duties involving the production of daily market reports, including long term outlooks for the precious metals markets. These include supply/demand and price forecasts, as well as qualitative analyses.
Previously, James ran the New York research department for Refco, a large US commodities brokerage house, and worked for The Economist in the Economist Intelligence Unit covering commodity-producing nations and on the Middle East desk.
