As an independent inspection and testing company, we are trusted by many of the world’s biggest miners, financial institutions and refiners to provide impartial reports on high-value commodities.
Our highly skilled professionals deliver these services from our state-of-
the-art ISO 17025 accredited facilities, which are conveniently located to provide an efficient service to clients based at mine sites and all major refineries around the world.

Please tell us the background and history of the company.
The Alfred H Knight Group was first established by Alfred Henry Knight in 1881 to provide independent weight determination, inspection, supervision and analytical services to the metals and minerals and solid fuels industry.
We are a totally independent, family-owned business spanning five generations of the Knight family.
The organisation is managed centrally by its UK head office, with more than 3,500 staff in a network of offices and laboratories in more than 40 countries worldwide.
The business has seen significant sustained growth throughout its history. Having originated in Swansea and moved its headquarters to Liverpool not long after, we continue to invest and expand, and we now have facilities in North America, Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and Canada.
What are your future plans for the business in the coming years?
