Reference Materials
To promote quality and good practice in the refining and trade of gold and silver, we produce and sell Certified Reference Materials (CRMs).
CRMs are available to any laboratories wishing to calibrate their analytical equipment to LBMA standards. CRMs are an essential component of Good Delivery best practice and help to ensure that existing refineries on the Good Delivery List (GDL) maintain current LBMA standards and listing. For prospective GDL refineries CRMs provide a benchmark of the standards required.
Gold CRMs
The LBMA Reference Material Steering Committee has produced the latest set of high purity gold certified materials suitable for the validation of analytical methods as well as for calibration of analytical instruments to the LBMA Good Delivery standard.
These materials represent an evolution of the earlier reference materials AuRM1 and AuRM2 which proved to be immensely popular amongst quality laboratories around the world. The elemental concentrations have been based on feedback received from users of the previous materials. Now with added cadmium - and cobalt, indium, iridium, and ruthenium.

The calculation above is intended to be used as an indication. Should you place an order, the price is calculated based on the exact fine weight of each unit multiplied by the London PM price on the business day following receipt of the order form. Cost of shipment by secure carrier will also be added to the purchase invoice.
Silver CRMs
The silver CRMs are sold as sets of two units (one of AgRM4 and one of AgRM5), with each unit being approximately 21x21x6 mm and weighing approximately 28g.
The Certificate of Analysis provides the element concentrations as well as details of the manufacturing process, homogeneity testing and other important information. The Certificate of Analysis can be found here.
The price (excluding shipping costs) for a set of two units is:
- Good Delivery List Refiners and LBMA Members: US$4,275
- Other purchasers: US$4,700
An invoice will be raised in respect of the specific order value. Orders will be despatched after receipt of payment. Delivery should be complete within 30 days of the despatch authorisation.
